Herb “Ohta-San” Ohta and his son, Herb Ohta Jr. Herb Ohta originally started playing the ukulele with the intention of proving that the ukulele could be a solo instrument. ‘Zoey’ balances on the nose of his owner’s board during their heat in the tandem division at the 2nd Annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition held in Imperial Beach, Calif., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007. The annual charity event had over 40 entries and featured two divisions for surfing dogs and their owners.
