Last Monday night, there was some sort of fireworks show. We don’t know who or why it was held. It was kind of pathetic actually. They launched one every two minutes or so. Here are a couple of grainy pictures taken from the walkway in front of our front door.

Since it was a nice day and we didn’t want to spend much money, we decided to go cycling today. We had brunch at nice little bakery / cafe and then cycled out to Konouzan-Toshogu Shrine. It is located on a small mountain / hill overlooking the ocean. There is a very long winding staircase with 1159 stairs! Here’s a picture from the top.

Unfortunately, it’s a little difficult to distinguish between the water and the sky. Between the ocean and the buildings is the road I drive along to work. The cycling road is between the road and the ocean.
Here are some pictures around the shrine:

Here’s a picture of a tree that people stick coins into the bark for good luck. I’m sure there is a story behind this, but I don’t know it. (Don’t worry - I didn’t waste any of my precious coins on this).

It was a cloudy day, so the visibility wasn’t so good. I hope to return during the winter and take some better pictures.
