After yesterday’s great session at Omaezaki, I was hoping for another good day. It seems like the waves haven’t been good at Yoshida for awhile now - would today be a pleasant change?

Another rainy day with a forecast for small waves. Small really doesn’t describe the waves today at Yoshida:
One solitary surfer hoping for some rideable waves. A couple of days earlier, the waves at Omaezaki were great, so we decided to make the 30 km trek there.
Got to the beach a little bit later than usual days - arrived just before 7 am. Didn’t really expect good waves - but at least the weather was fine. Not clear enough to see Mt. Fuji, but at least it wasn’t raining!
Not much to write about today. Almost everyone is back to work (except for yours truly, the retired, the unemployed etc.) So I really didn’t expect many people today. As you probably can guess from the title of this post, it was rainy today. It would have been easy to have just stayed home today, but this is my last week of my summer vacation.
Today was a national holiday here in Japan - Respect for the Aged Day (Keiro no Hi), so I expected there to be massive crowds like yesterday. As a result, I wanted to get up good and an early today. Also, the waves were really good early yesterday morning. So, I left the house at around 4:30 am in an effort to beat the crowds.
This summer, I have been going surfing only on weekdays. Today was my second time to visit Yoshida on a weekend. Last time, it was packed. What would it be like today?
After an unsuccessful outing on Monday, I was hoping for a better day today. Little did I know that today I would experience something new.
Today was NOT a good day for surfing. It was so bad that I didn’t even bother to take any pictures. REALLY. First, we checked out Yoshida. FLAT. Second, we stopped at Shizunami. FLAT. Finally, we visited Kashima. There were a few surfers trying to catch some small waves, but not tempting enough for us to suit up. An incredibly short day at the beach.
Finally, we are spending the night at Tatadohama. Earlier in the week, the forecast had been for rain, but the rain is going to miss this part of Japan. Going to spend the weekend at our favourite beach in Japan!
I’m still on vacation so the title for this posting isn’t the most appropriate, but it was the best thing that I could think of.
Like usual, the waves have been small - would I be pleasantly surprised today??
