Canadians are crazy about ice hockey. In Canada, we don’t call it “ice hockey” we just call it “hockey”. Why? field hockey isn’t popular so we never confuse the two!
Many Canadians play hockey on frozen ponds and lakes with their friends and neighbours. When I was a high school student, I played on a tennis court and on a farmer’s field. One time, I fell through the ice! Fortunately, the water wasn’t too deep - it was only waist-deep.
