Now that school is back in session, my free time has been reduced drastically. If I am organized well enough, I can squeeze in a few sessions during the week. On Mondays and Thursdays my first class starts at 10:40 am so it is possible to surf before work.  That’s what I decided to do […]

Yet another storm approaches… (October 1st)
Today is the first day of a new month. It’s hard to believe that it is already October. Typhoon Number 15 is on the way. The locals were speculating that or tomorrow would be a good day for surfing.
Storm Front (September 24th)
Here’s what it looked like at Yoshida. But word on the street said that Shizunami was pumping. Surfers are infamous for saying “You should have been here yesterday” or “You should have been at <place 1> instead of <place 2>” so I was skeptical to say the least. However, it is only a few minutes […]
Another rainy Sunday (September 21st)
Here are a couple of blurry pictures I snapped in the rain:
The last Friday of my summer vacation (September 19th)
After yesterday’s great session at Omaezaki, I was hoping for another good day. It seems like the waves haven’t been good at Yoshida for awhile now – would today be a pleasant change?
Oh My! (September 18th)
Another rainy day with a forecast for small waves. Small really doesn’t describe the waves today at Yoshida: One solitary surfer hoping for some rideable waves. A couple of days earlier, the waves at Omaezaki were great, so we decided to make the 30 km trek there.
Title Pending… (September 17th)
Got to the beach a little bit later than usual days – arrived just before 7 am. Didn’t really expect good waves – but at least the weather was fine. Not clear enough to see Mt. Fuji, but at least it wasn’t raining!
Blame it on the rain (September 16th)
Not much to write about today. Almost everyone is back to work (except for yours truly, the retired, the unemployed etc.) So I really didn’t expect many people today. As you probably can guess from the title of this post, it was rainy today. It would have been easy to have just stayed home today, […]
Respect for the Aged Day (September 15th)
Today was a national holiday here in Japan – Respect for the Aged Day (Keiro no Hi), so I expected there to be massive crowds like yesterday. As a result, I wanted to get up good and an early today. Also, the waves were really good early yesterday morning. So, I left the house at […]
Sunday (September 14th)
This summer, I have been going surfing only on weekdays. Today was my second time to visit Yoshida on a weekend. Last time, it was packed. What would it be like today?
